@zrl0I'm in the process of trying to learn Autodesk Inventor so I can design and print my own 3D parts for projects. Been looking for tutorials to follow online, and found this PDF. Completed the first challenge in it tonight!
I'd like to figure out how to make the design process more elegant. I kept getting tripped up on trying to center lines using constraints, which I didn't see a button in Inventor for. My sketches are really messy for this, but I'm happy my final result at least looks like what it's supposed to!
@jasonaa0hit a pretty big milestone with this project (tl;dr 3d printer management system like octoprint but for dremel printers) - the backend can read frames from IP/USB cameras and serve them as jpegs from an api endpoint. code is a little wack but it works! next is streaming video but that hopefully shouldnβt be too hard
@zrl0Completed second attempt at a multicolor 3D print using a single extruder. Think it's looking pretty good!
Does anyone want it? DM me your address. I'll mail it to the first person in the US (because of shipping cost) who wants it
@zrl0First attempt at doing a multicolor 3D print. It's not looking very good yet, but it'll get there! To do this, I had to manually edit the g-code to add the M600 instruction to prompt a filament change because I only have one extruder. Trying to figure out how to get the slicer to do it for me
@neel.redkar3Smallish ship, I 3d printed a molecule/metal organic framework I generated for my science fair project, and like how it turned out!
@jasonaa0making a raycast extension that lets you manage/start prints from a connected octoprint server! :3d-printer::raycast: β¨
@prithul02180I think I might 3D print my next RC plane.
@ferferite0The joys of 3D printing, if you get it wrong the first time, print another one. The phone should be finished tomorrow(without the camera since it will take a month or two for it to arrive)
@ferferite0Played around with blue transparent PETG filament and learned a few things. That ironing the last layer is sooooo nice, it feels like glass, so smooth and that colored transparent filaments might not be the best to print "clear" stuff but it has such a nice shine to it. Defiantly going to print the phone with this stuff. Also because this is a 20x20mm cube, you can't expect much opacity with colored clear filament.
@sampoder0spray painting and 3d printing in design
@prithul02180Installed new controller board, stepper drivers and LCD on my 3D printer. Also replaced all the bearings with new ones. Sensorless homing works too!
@caleb2I'm gonna try to get @scrappy to react with as many emojis as possible, for no particular reason.
When we arrived in space, there were shouts of "yay!" and "hooray!" I wanted to sleep, but the sunset was much too captivating. As I struggled to paint a representation of the masterpiece, my art was cut short by a reminder of our predicament. Our ship's Linux core had been damaged by a rain storm. Upon further inspection, is appeared as though the Rust installation on our ship's robot had been corrupted. We debated which language to replace it with; "Golang!" Matt said. "Swift!" Linus shouted. "Deno!" "JavaScript!" We decided on rewriting the robot's code using minecraft redstone (that way we didn't have to use npm). 15 years later, once we finished, we pushed to the GitHub repository. But wait! The robot's hardware was also severely crippled. We had to 3d print some parts, after getting the models from Google.
@prithul02180Printing the biggest design I ever did, estimated to take 16 hours
@jasonaa0Finally got time to resume work on my SOM project! I'm printing the lid for my raspberry pi case. I need to make a couple adjustments to the case itself, and then I'll probably print that tomorrow.
@ashsrid0Just finished printing part of my design! Next up is finalising my nextion display.
@hemesh0Part 2 of 3D Printing Starman: Successfully printed it overnight. Had to remove a lot of 3D printed Support. Now it looks really dope! :3d-printer:
@lskaling0Designed and printed a nifty little holder for my Apple Pencil
@prithul02180Tried painting a 3D print for the first time. It's a cooling fan cover. Really like how it turned out, time to upgrade the old ones on my power supply I guess
@prithul02180Here's a 3D print timelapse I made yesterday. There's quite a bit of ghosting on the flat side but that's from the rusty old linear bearings that I'm using. I'm waiting for new ones to arrive from China, and it's taking forever.
@abby0Attending a zoom panel for KWK with members of the adidas FUTURE team who work on everything from 4D printed shoes to performance gear.
@sukrithamankala0Got our 3D printed rocket parts today!! Very excited to start putting all these together! Thanks to @roshan for helping out!
@lskaling0I just found out about this feature and thought Iβd start a streak! Iβve been working on 3D printing clear face masks for special ed teachers in my district. I print them at my communities makerspace but found it tedious to wait around to print, so installing Octoprint on a Raspberry Pi for remote monitoring. Right now working through installing the image on an SD card.
@prithul02180My first ever attempt at 3D printing, on a printer that I made myself. It failed but I'm only getting started
