@KaraMassie-U032A2PMSE93First PR!
Taking a break from my cat bot to get some more basic js skills, and using our workshops for this. Looking at the first workshop (make your personal website), I felt our list of example sites could use an update, so I added a couple. I encourage HCers with sites to add more!
@ian2My Discord bot framework :conflict: will soon support deploying bots to :vercel: Vercel!
@zrl0I'm in the process of trying to learn Autodesk Inventor so I can design and print my own 3D parts for projects. Been looking for tutorials to follow online, and found this PDF. Completed the first challenge in it tonight!
I'd like to figure out how to make the design process more elegant. I kept getting tripped up on trying to center lines using constraints, which I didn't see a button in Inventor for. My sketches are really messy for this, but I'm happy my final result at least looks like what it's supposed to!
@malted4:sunglassesblob: Today I have been working on a Twitter bot that tweets about vehicles that are untaxed or have no valid MOT. The repo can be found here.
@KaraMassie-U032A2PMSE93Eeeiii! First #scrapbook post. With the help of the sweetest, smartest co-workers here at HQ, Iβve been building a Slack cat bot in js using Bolt.
I started by roughing out a design that is vastly beyond my current abilities, and that is based on the ~worst~ funniest personality traits of my IRL cat.
github.com/karamassie/madcatbot
A Cat currently lives in #the-litter-box only. Itβs very shy, for now.
So far, Iβve learned how to:
β’ set up a bot using Slackβs API
β’ use Replit; and then,
β’ get my Slack tokens revoked by accidentally moving all my code to a public repo in GitHub
β’ regenerate those, and put them in a non-uploaded file
β’ Run my bot locally
On the js side Iβve learned how to:
β’ Set up which channel it is in
β’ Get the bot to respond to certain words or phrases
β’ Set up delays and randomization
β’ Create βuntriggeredβ events (ie the bot does random things without provocation)
β’ Have the bot react to users entering the channel
@msw7+Just passed 10k self-driven miles on my comma 2! My car has something like 15k miles in total, so that's a lot
@belle0hey fwens :hyper-dino-wave:
almost forgot to do today's :sadge: i had a really nice chill morning and started working on @pranav's annoying site challenge :)) also, i set up a local version of toriel (only took 3 hours no biggie) and it was really interesting learning to read error messages :errors: + how to set a slack bot haha :)) i had an amazing day and hope y'all do too!!!
@HenryBass-U02KEJ8T6D82After a needed break from coding, I'm back.
crypto/stock trading takes too much time, so I'm working on a trading bot. If this works, I gain a few dollars, and if it doesn't, then I loose a few dollars.
still refining how it works before I actually use it
^ = buy, v = sell
@msw7+working on a new clippy flow (the bot that greets people when they join the slack). still very much a work in progress, and only running off my laptop at time of writing. one part of the flow that is close to done is you can call TORIEL (the new name for the greeter bot) after finishing the tutorial for extra tidbits of info with /toriel-call
@ian2Today I made a bookmarklet bot for Blooket (basically another Kahoot clone) to get more familiar with the DOM APIs.
@clubscraps-U035D3VA7R77+Cedric Hutchings wants to share their project with the community!
Updated hack.af/share to post in #bot-spam if your API request didn't come from the official client. (meaning I fetch <http://hack.af|hack.af> and see what it's pointing to right now, haha)
shoutout to the weirdoes who check botspam (you know who you are)

@Skyascii0Done with buttons for my bot, now all I gotta do is tidy up things a lil bit
@Skyascii0Been working on a Discord bot (again) which utilises the new ANSI color codes feature in code blocks to replicate a neofetch-like output in Discord. Gonna ship it right after I figure out how to add buttons without causing a mess π
@ian2Today I made tons of progress on my bot framework, Conflict. github.com/YodaLightsabr/conflict
I added command responses with JSX views, a command line interface, implemented a rough draft for hooks, and learned more about arrow functions and this scope.
@ian2I made huge progress on my Discord bot framework today. The basic command handler and JSX view parsers are working!!
Edit: Now open source! github.com/yodalightsabr/conflict π :githubparrot:
@heyrajan0nothing too recent, but found this lil gemβmy very first robot that inspired methodical creation (it moved around, spoke and lit up)
@audreyolafz0I've worked on creating a Discord bot yesterday and today, tinkering with both Python and JavaScript.
@HenryBass-U02KEJ8T6D82Stuff I did today:
With all the pump-and-dump crypto scams and coins like "Dogelon Mars", I made a shitcoin generator. It creates a random erc-20 contract, with the dumbest names imaginable. I made this on my chromebook in history class, so I haven't really tested it. Anyway, anyone want to invest in Shubu Muskcoin?
For your next scamcoin:

Also, in the spirit of joke projects, finised CCP bot! A discord bot that stores social credits for users in a database, with regex stuff too! Basically a full currency, with the ability to send social credits. Made as a joke for my chinese class discord.
Finally, because I don't have any images to show for these, here's a wallpaper I did:
@caleb0Kotlin running on an FRC robot! (thanks @aiden.bai05 for the inspiration :yeah: )
@Ishan0Made pizza for breakfast, a tiny bit of work on the doge bot, lots of math homework and WHOLE lot on wasting time on the internet!
@Ishan0Today I did school, made a new friend who I convinced to join HC, did some physics homework, wasted time on random stuff on the internet, and added Airtable to my discord bot for the doge foundation! Also saw some bunny just wandering around when I was out jogging. See the Airtable data here: airtable.com/shrLXtdF7tEBLFfRA. See source here: github.com/dogecoinfoundation/discord-bot. I have a demo screenshot too!
@Ishan0I did a heck of a lot of work on a discord bot that I'm making for the dogecoin people, I made pizza and one calzone because I got my new pizza stone, I went to school which was half as long as usual, made friends, reviewed some PRs, and heard my english teacher tell all the girls to stay away from guys :eggsdee:. That was really funny. We did some satire and stuff and I sadly did not have the funny-physics-teacher class today. Also, we're doing another Crypto Callβ’οΈ on Sunday at 8 am where we'll walk through the #duckcoin source (rsvp there). Also emailed the HC leader at my school and I might become a co-lead? He seems to be into getting people interested in HC, so that should be fun! Also noticed that my neighbor has a bunnyyyyyy cute
@Ishan0Got the Tdap vaccine (schools here need me to have it), went to my school again but it was closed, went to the bank with my parents (who opened an account) where we asked the guy if I could have my own bank account but he said he needs special permission from his manager cause im a minor, and in the morning I became part of something exciting:shut: π.
Posting a random screenshot cause scrappy is a complain bot.
As one of the Zachs says, there are no surprises in Hack Club.
@harbar20210Just created Colors, a Discord bot that reads the hex codes sent in chat and sends an image of that color.
Check it out!

@avi0Made an EV3 doggo as part of training for my summer job!
@RebeccaWang01st day of camp: iGibson simulator :show-me-what-you-got: I think my brain exploded
@harbar20210been working on converting my discord bot Porygon from js to ts for the past week. this is what my file structure currently looks like. it's really fun and i'm learning a lot about TypeScript, Prisma, and PostgreSQL.
@amy72960Working on my mirror bot for telegram. We got a successful upload to my team drive!
It supports direct links, mega links, and torrent magnet links, and sends them to Google Drive
@JohnLins0Finished a reinforcement learning project today, teaching a bot to move forward as much as possible. Here's a video of it working: youtu.be/pDtsjiIpoH4
@Odyssey3460Gonna try learning Rust by making a Discord bot with it.. Clearly going well
@jasonaa0hopefully next season goes better, but for now :salute:
