@J_cordz7+Today I contributed on GitHub :github: to Hack as a Service! :haas: I helped to add a few things to the front-end repo :pullrequest::merge: like a small description from the docs about HaaS , I also added a badge that links to the project License :blobninja: and fixed a broken link! 🔗 Tomorrow I'll try to help with the docs repo, add some new files to a personal project and continue working on my Biology Lab homework like I also did today!!! 🦠 🔬 :quad_parrot:
@J_cordz7+Today I added new HTML and CSS files to my personal website Repo on GitHub! :github: I also made a few changes to my README Profile, because I wrote new text that I'll add soon and moved my trophies ⭐ theme from Monokai to Gruvbox. Also I learned about what Prettier indentation is thanks to @caleb! Next, today was my last school day before my break so this next two weeks are free and I'll have time to relax, study more, code and make new things! I will also try to work with my workshops and I'll make a pull request to GitHub Docs because I found a typo on their page! 👀 :pullrequest:
@christina6950I use Game Lab a lot in our local Hack Club and yesterday i made a pull request on Scrapbook to improve the flow for clubs sharing their ships (by moving the option of choosing “other” for your school to the top option, as my local Hack Club is not associated with any school.
@J_cordz7+Today I had an exam, coded a bit, formatted a USB to exfat:tw_floppy_disk: at school to help on my Biology class, where I download some amazing 🌱 🦠 presentations for this semester that will also be useful at college, also I tried to make something on Blender :blender: but that didn't work so well, and lastly I learned more about HTML Canvas!!! :quad_parrot:
@heyrajan0speedran a site for my school's business club chapter powered by airtable (just over an hour)
@J_cordz7+Today I had an awesome school presentation on Biomedicine Engineering! 🧪 It was a very cool event, there were 3D Printers, robots 🤖 that use Python :python: , prosthesis models that use biological electrical 🔌 signals to work and many more things! I could take a few pictures that I'll try to updated and share this next days. I also had Chemistry ⚗️ lab where we did a lot of cool experiments on Amines! And because the biomedicine talks and presentations ended a bit late, I went walking back to my home, here's some very nice pictures of my city! 🌆 🏙️
@J_cordz7+So today I finished school early so I had a lot of time to do homework, study and play some games! I'm also going to be applying my new coding knowledge for making my website! I also research more on ways to customize NeoVim :vim: and submitted my first poll to #poll-of-the-day! It's probably going to be up tomorrow, and it's a dinosaurs themed poll! 🦕 Lastly, I saw this amazing README Recruiting page :linear: that talked about computers, the story of how things were before, how they're now and what's up for our future, and it included a very cool phrase: "The best way to predict the future is to invent it.":macintosh-stcicker:
@abby0For my CS class at school I led a group in using Processing to build an animated GIF. We were inspired by the popular game Wordle to make a GIF of people attempting to solve a wordle. Our animated GIF shows different ways to get to a word. We designed the boards in Figma. Here is the repo: github.com/abbyfischler/swordle and I’m attaching a demo!
@J_cordz7+So It's finally Friday! Today I had a normal school day and tomorrow I'll have a college admission exam! I plan to use my weekend to rest a bit, code on some projects, study and play games! Also I've been researching on different ways to save my bookmarks! Maybe I'll setup them on Obsidian :obsidian-md: or use Notion! :notion: The purpose of this is to have a database where I can access some interesting facts and articles I've found online, the same way I'm working on my Digital Garden Project! 🌱
@karolina0wow... it's been a while...
in september of 2021, i got cut from my school's volleyball team. i had been playing club volleyball for several years. i was sad, angry, mad, but mostly confused, because i had identified with volleyball so much over the last few years.
that same month, in an effort to join some sort of sport, i impulsively joined cross country. i met an amazing community of people that helped making running less bad. when i returned to track in the spring, i joined both long distance and pole vault (my usual event).
inspired by xc, at my local civil air patrol squadron, i founded a run club community on strava that has now amassed nearly half of our cadets. we've hosted in-person runs, ran to mt. olympus (virtually), and recently... WE GOT STICKERS!
our motto is 'stridin' on', and our logo is a little cold minecraft strider, since we're PNW kids and don't know what weather over 50 degrees means.
being a varsity athlete in track and field after feeling like i wasn't good at sports anymore is rewarding, but founding a swag community with STICKERS is a million times better. anyway. i missed hack club.
@J_cordz7+Today I went to a school event besides my normal schedule, also I registered for a college admission progress! Tomorrow I will be visiting the school. 👀
Here's an image from the Cassiopeia A Supernova Remnant!!
@J_cordz7+Today I'm learning about more Emacs extensions like Org Mode and about WebAssembly!
Also tomorrow there's a school festival event so I'm definitely going!!!
@J_cordz7+Today my day went very well, I had a good school day and studied a few things, today I'm probably receiving my MIT's Blueprint admissions decision so I hope I will get into the hackathon!!!
Also I checked the starthacking.org link on the hackathon website with useful info!
@la1making a school hack club poster today! (picture unrelated)
@J_cordz7+Today I had a normal school day, my new internet is getting setup so I will be able to work on more things online soon, I also did an awesome Biology Diagram on today's Bio class and took a city landscape picture! 🌆
@J_cordz7+It's finally Friday! Another week of school is over so I look forward for the weekend to build things, rest a bit and study! I still have some internet problems so I'm going to be working with Blender and making 3D Models! :blender:
@la1finished my application for a school hack club :))
@J_cordz7+Today I had a normal school day so I didn't had time to work on any of my projects or my server in development, and regarding this I need to research more to get it done, including what software I will use and where I will be building it.
Also today while checking some of my downloaded files I found this image I have since December 21 of 2020 which includes Hack Club on the background!!! Surprisingly it looks like I already knew Hack Club at that time but forgot to check out what it was, something I hope I would have done earlier, also I have to remember where I got that setup file. Here's a screenshot of it!
@jasonaa0today i tried to get :tailscale: working on :replit:!
for context, i have a laptop at school that’s eventually going to run some sort of web app to manage our 3d printers. we want to access this off the school network to keep an eye on prints, so the idea is to run tailscale on the laptop and on a replit instance, then proxy traffic from the repl to the web server that’ll eventually be running on the laptop. its pretty hacky but it actually does kinda work, i just need to figure out the proxying part 👀
@J_cordz7+Today I learned more about CSS Frameworks including Tailwind CSS! Also tomorrow I'm going back to school after having online classes for a long time!
@J_cordz7+So I'm finally back from my journey, arrived yesterday's night to the city and ready for school next week! Today I coded again on a few projects and research more ways on how to make responsive websites!
But today's biggest thing I worked on was more research on Ethereum and DApps!
Here's some cool Ethereum wallpapers from their official project website! :ethereum:
@J_cordz7+On one of my previous scrapbook posts I mentioned that I'm going on a trip, and it's today!
This is because my remote classes ended and I have to got back to high school on real life!
So I will be traveling all day to go back to the city, I'll spend the day reading some interesting books and try to code for a bit!
And here's a Hooray Squid! :hooray-squid:
@J_cordz7+Today I didn't work on many things, just studied for school, so here's a Wahoo Fish instead. Wahoo! :wahoo-fish: I also started using logseq as a OSS alternative to Obsidian!
@HenryBass-U02KEJ8T6D83Summary of winter break:
I actually didn't code much this break, instead focusing on learning. I fully migrated to Linux on all devices, and did a few rices. Mainly I read up on how computers work on a lower level. Hopefully I can do something cool with that knowledge. Mentally exhausted for school starting again. I did write some code though, I did the start of a bootloader. Windows slowed me down a lot, so hopefully I can actually get somewhere now that I'm using Linux on my desktop too. might also remake my homepage, as it was one of my first websites
@HenryBass-U02KEJ8T6D83After 5 days of work, I finished my webchat! yes I know most of you could do thing in 15 minutes lmao
thanks @Khushraj for the workshop that I based this off. Now I can say that I've got a pretty good understanding of websockets! Next time, i'll just use socket.io though
I didn't want to just copy/paste this, so I tried to get a good understanding of what was actually happening. Even then, 90% of the time I was thinking "I'm sure there's a better way to do this". But, it works! Adding color themes, and user IDs next.
I made this because discord is blocked, (My unblocker dosen't work on it), so I can message people in school
Went for a fallout pip-boy style, but I might change that.
Anyway, time to get to work on my pass-the-story
Also: Why can't you have the link to the chat?
my friends are on it. I think that explains enough
@HenryBass-U02KEJ8T6D83After years of battle, I have won. I fucking hate our school's website restrictionss
I found a way to get past the school firwall, and site blocker at once, without using random unblocked games sites AAAAAAAAA
made it into a website for people at school and stuff definitely gonna get in trouble
@bejolithic0Experiment with WebGPU & Azure Kinect DK to create interactive generative art for our school exhibiting
@sampoder0I found XSS on our school’s LMS, Firefly, now I know what our Hack Club is doing next term: “Hacking” Firefly
@HenryBass-U02KEJ8T6D83Today I did something useful, and productive.
Just kidding, signed up my entire school district for the olive garden email list
@HenryBass-U02KEJ8T6D83Got quite a bit done today! Messed around with some server stuff, tried installing arch for the 3rd time (aaaaaaa), and accidentally did a 30 second long deauth attack on my school wifi. Generally just exploring the endless rabbithole of networking. Also setting up a self-hosted vpn to get past my school's annoying ass firewall or whatever so that I can access slack in class. Not much programming, just messing around with tech stuff. Read up on kalman filters too
@benjamin0Ran a very successful Hack Club table at my school’s night for incoming freshmen!
@la1i started a pronoun badge making thing at school :)
@J_cordz7+There's a bug with Übersicht, so I won't be using it for my setup, today I had my Bio final test and also organized some school files I moved from my hard drive to my macbook so today I didn't worked on my projects either, but there's a small update about the most recent one I talked about yesterday, and it have to do with some science articles I have been reading since many years ago, it's a website to document something special about them!
@caleb0ooooooo forgot to post this last week: I passed an audition into the NH All-State Festival Orchestra, basically an annual event for the top high-school musicians in New Hampshire! :nh: I'm super excited this year because (barring catastrophe) it'll be in-person again (it was canceled my sophomore year and "virtual" my junior year)
attached is a nonsensical series of numbers to appease scrappy
@rishi0🎉 club ship club ship club ship
:turner: last friday, @heyrajan and i hosted the first hack club meeting at turner fenton for this year! after months of weird bureaucratic idiocy, we got clearance to use the largest makerspace at school—and we filled it up right to the brim!
after a couple days of stickering, we got hundreds of signups and invited everyone to lunch inside the robotics room, where we played a ton of glass animals w/ projectm visualizers on the walls and introduced everyone to the world of hacking ✨
we also got a fair bit of people onto the slack (where we’ll be doing most of our club stuffs); check out #turner and @turner-hackers! club season hasn’t officially started at our school yet, so i was pretty stunned to see the turnout we got—i’m so so so hyped for the next lil bit :parrot_love: you can find a compilation of photos & moments on twitter :))
❤️ happy hacking, homies~
@J_cordz7+Today I started to digitalize some of my science hand written notes so I can also keep them on my database and be able to share them more easily, I also did more progress on the setup of my high school Hack Club Organization including a logo draft and finally and checked more things about HUGO static site framework for my personal website in development using their docs, although the first version of it will be with pure HTML and CSS before using a framework to test what I have been learning with the workshops.
@J_cordz7+Finally my high school semester is over, so after my final exams during this next weeks I'll have some time to study some things on my own, I did Calculus Homework today so there isn't anything about code to share today, so instead, here's an image of the steps of cellular respiration as part of the science diagrams I'll start to share in here.
It's not the best, but it's an awesome progress in my coding journey.
My own personal website and portfolio is still in dev, and there's nothing to share about it yet because I still have to figure out the total tools I will use on it, so today's workshops are Orpheus Hack Club Website which needs some improvement and Splatter Paint. Also, my other project about GitHub that I was also talking about in my scrapbook is finally setting up an organization for my Science Club and Hack Club and redesigning my high school website which will be a great project to test my abilities! And finally, today I started researching some Raycast extensions, so most likely I won't see my apps dock that often.
@HenryBass-U02KEJ8T6D83Log day 5:
Making a programming language! Skipped a few days of scrapbook for school, but I've got a fun project going. Messing around with regex, lexers and all the cool stuff. The current concept is a language based on a Turing Machine. (So just brainfuck but for sane people). So far I've got a basic interpreter, and some syntax. All done in python, because I refuse to use anything else. Implementing loops is really tripping me up though. And for the required image ofc, here's a screenshot of the code required to create two variables and add them. This isn't meant to be practical, but rather just fun to make.
@J_cordz7+I had planned for today to draw my Dino for Hack Club GitHub, but instead of this, I worked on my Digital Garden Project and started learning different ways to index my Obsidian vault with notes into a garden database, also I'm almost ready to ship the fist version of my Personal Website, and most likely I will be hosting it with the help of Repl.it where I'm also hosting my workshop projects, and then move on to better alternatives with improved versions.
In other things, I forgot to mention some days ago than my high school is finally at the Hack Club map and I'm happy to be a club leader and get to work at my club and create awesome things!
@J_cordz7+Today I had my Hack Club Leader call and it went fantastic! And I'm happy to say that now I'm a Hack Club Leader!
Hope to make awesome things at my high school club where everyone will learn and have a great time.
In other things, I did some major changes to my Github account as I had planned and tomorrow I will be applying for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, that will provides me with tools that will be useful in my journey to learn how to program.
@J_cordz7+Today I did some more progress on my BWSI Medlytics Course, I've been so busy with school and other coding projects that I didn't had time to work on that for a while. And thanks to the help of Hack Clubbers, I am designing a guide to learn more about programming on an organized way, that will take into consideration all the knowledge I've got within this time I've been learning more about coding and technology, and my future goals and plans.
So I will continue my new path, together with my progress made here at the club with workshops. In addition to this, I had planned to make the changes to my GitHub Profile README that I have said some days ago, but I will not do them today because I have a new goal for my account, and lastly for today, tomorrow is my Hack Club Leader Call so looking forward to it!
@J_cordz7+My Hack Club application call was scheduled!
Looking forward to it and starting my own Club at my High School!
@J_cordz7+I submitted my Hack Club Application! Looking forward to start a Hack Club at my High School and share all the amazing things I've learned so far here on the Slack!!!
